Re: combat needs help
I think the thought then was to limit damage to someone who got hit by a plane. I don't think the max weight served any purpose at all really. You never saw any planes near the max that were competative. In open it's all about wing loading and horsepower.

Re: combat needs help
Having a max weight only in any class will drive everyone to super light and easily destroyed planes to win. Not a good way to retain pilots who soon burn out with all the builing and repairs required. A minimum weight that is high enough to allow decent armor makes the planes much more survivable a...

Re: 2948 Kawasaki Ki 61 Prototype
Minimum weight is to keep everyone even and more survivable. A really light plane will eat up a heavy one. It won't take any kind of a hit though.
Lower wing loading means better performance in the turns and combat is won and lost in the turns.

Re: e1000 ( Electric Park Flyer ) Combat and Scoring Concept
The very first combat rule had a box you had to stay in. It was difficult to enforce as you needed at least 2 line judges and a method for them to let the pilots and judges know they had crossed the line. I even made up horns with a button trigger to sound when someone crossed the line. Judges rarel...

Re: combat needs help
The problems have been the same since combat first started. Keep the rule simple and every few months someone figures out a way to get better performance or more power and then everyone had better get on the bandwagon ie build a new fleet, get new motors or not be competative. Make a lot of rules to...

You can get it in a 49 inch wide roll! I wonder if they will do a 13 inch roll. Then you could cover a wing in one piece!

I've got a few I think in the junk box. Shed clips or broken connecting rods that got run through the engine.

Re: Muncie NATS attendance
Looks like the 10th annual Nats may be more international! Some of the Russian Pilots I've flown with are thinking about coming this year! Nothing for sure yet but it looks promising! They plan on bringing planes along so it will be a real barn burner in open B! They will get a chance to try out SSC...
