Re: My remote needle valves have been discontinued

Probably not guys. Combat is dead in this part of the world. I sold my truck and fifth wheel as Jill has problems traveling more than a couple of hours, which doesn't get us very far. My combat planes are still lying in the heaving heap after Goldman's event 3 years ago!! That and I got pretty burne...

Re: My remote needle valves have been discontinued

Have you tried the OS LA40 unit https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMW56 from Tower Hobbies? Works for me.
In fact, if you already have needles, the body alone is available at https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... LXMW57&P=V

Melee over Lenox

The Radio Control Club of Detroit will hold a one-day event at the RCCD field on August 8th. We plan on 8 rounds of Limited B followed by 4 rounds of GNAT. It will be a bare bones contest, no prizes, plaques etc, just good old friendly(?) combat. Scott Gilkey will be the CD. Entry fee $15 for one cl...

Re: Dogfight Over Dovre 2014

Jill & I would like to add our thanks to Doug & Kathy for another great combat weekend. Weather did not look good Saturday morning but we made it. Good crowd, good food and great competition. And hey Bob, The refrigerant line to the rear air on the Chrysler minivans has a habit of corroding ...

Great Lakes Combat - 8/9 & 8/10 2014

The weather gods smiled on Michigan last weekend and we had two picture perfect days for the Great Lakes Combat Championships - blue skies, light winds and 80 degrees! Just as well as we had 5.2" of rain on Monday (an 89 year one day record!) resulting in widespread floods in the Detroit area. ...

Re: Radio Control Club of Detroit - Great Lakes Combat

We have eight pilots signed up for each day - anyone else care to join us?
Camping is OK at the field for those who want to do that.
We even have 30A RV hookups if you bring a motorhome or camping trailer, but bring your own water.

Re: Battle for Bean Town LIMA OHIO

Keith, I used to have a very active sump pump when I lived in Milwaukee...I had a battery back up system in place similar to this http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_4866_4866?cm_mmc=Google-pla-_-Water%20Pumps-_-Sump%20Pumps-_-10808&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=10808&ci_src=1758896...

Re: Battle for Bean Town LIMA OHIO

Sorry guys, after spending a couple of evenings checking over the fleet to come and clean your streamers this weekend, I unfortunately have to forget it! An unusually high water table is making my sump pump cycle twice a minute. A short power cut resulted in water on my basement floor in less than 3...

Re: RPM limit change for SSC plane flown in Limited B

Hmmm, not a whole helluva lot of support for this so far; even some opposition.
Based on comments received I will hold off on the proposal until it has more support.

RPM limit change for SSC plane flown in Limited B

I have been asked to submit a rules change proposal in an attempt to level the playing field a little for those pilots who wish to try Limited B using their SSC planes (which is allowed in the current rules) It has been suggested that enforcing a 17,500 rpm limit (per current SSC rules) puts these p...

Re: Magnum 15 Setup

Mike, You are going to get a million different opinions on this! FWIW the first SSC plane I flew at Wingnut Acres Labor Day weekend had a brand new Mag 15XLS with less than one tank through it. I ran 5% nitro fuel and set it slightly rich. It was turning 17,200 rpms and pinched close to 17,500. It f...

Re: Dogfight over Dovre

My receiver battery status is dismal. I'd like to buy packs in 4 AAA double stick configuration at 700 mAh or so, should be around 2 oz. I can't find anyone who sells them. I can buy all the cells though. Does anyone know how to build a good, durable receiver pack? I'd sure appreciate any advice. D...
