Re: Anarchy over Afton

1987 miles on the truck, 6 wings (2 with broken spars) and 4 fuses to repair. Glad it was just 20 rounds of flying or I would have run out of airframes.... One of those great weekends when you get home dragging with a sore rearend and just have to smile :D Thanks again Bill

Re: Anarchy over Afton

The FX's pulled really fine on Sunday and wish I could say the same for the LA's on Saturday. Good competition made for a lot of fun and many times my streamer disappeared when I was setting up to get run at another streamer. Too intense trying to track the target and not paying attention to my 6. I...

Re: Why would you miss a chance to fly in Kansas?

I'm bringing an air conditioner and an 8x10 tarp room so we can go inside and cool off if need be. You meant 'TAP ROOM', right?? We had a club pylon flyin yesterday. My truck said 106 when driving home. One of the guys brought a portable swamp cooler that actually worked pretty good until it ran ou...

I don't have any 'secret mojo'. What you see is what you get. Do Court and I get a handicap since you all have the distinct secret mojo advantage and we're left with the plain jane? :P

Re: Wing Building

Power supply is a variac I got from an old club member. It's pretty big (mounted in a plywood box that's about 6X6) but works good. 0 - 120 volt output but I use it at less than 20v.

Tape is from fastpac but I like the 3M bidi better.

Re: Wing Building

Unless we're talking eerkies and bernoullis', most 'I flew jets' aviators don't do well with the big words. Right next to the Thesaurus on the book shelf is Websters dictionary. Both spend most their time as building weights.....

Wing Building

I got some uncovered wings from Eric last year that have been sitting on the shelf in the barn. The last Wichita contest was a little rough on my B wings so decided to rebuild one of the avenger wings (install my mods). Started by cutting the span down to 60" http://www.rccombat.net/gallery/mai...

Re: Elevons and Elevator

You shouldn't need to change the Vstab. Size(area) needed is a function of the distance between the wing and tail. Longer tail requires less Vstab area. Most of the combat birds are quite short coupled so more area is required than on a normal rc acro bird. Hang a couple streamers on one of the tips...

Re: Where are the scores

Thanks Texoma RC for letting us use your field. Thanks David T for putting up with us and doing all the grunt work. Mad Max was on fire (again) and the high temps couldn't put a damper and his streamer collection. A couple of mid-air but I flew the same bird all day so guess it'll show up in ICT nex...

Re: Zero killer!

I'm not flying scale but this is my 2c. We need to remember it's stand off scale. To an outside observer (me) that means 'looks like a ....., viewing from 20' away. Yep.. some will look better than others and most will look better than the 'oft repaired but still a good flyer' bird. Get out the tape...

Re: Start of my P-61

Put big enough motors on it and it'll fly just like it is! :P Are we going to see it a Sherman or do we have to wait until Wichita?

Re: 2012 NATS

No application required.....You're preapproved. All that's required for full membership in the exclusive OGC club is to sing any Sweetwater Revival song of your choice inserting 'I do' 3 times somewhere during the performance. If you're not a Sweetwater fan, 3 Dog Night will do. :P

Don Howard from Ponca City, Ok was the first (callsign Tenman) I think, and 'Roid from Indiana is the other.

Re: Anarchy over Afton 2

Thanks Bill and Jennifer for hosting a bunch of TX guys. You've a great combat field at Lake Afton and made for some pretty intense flying. HOOYAH to Dane for joining the 'TenCut bunch. Not quite sure how he kept his Cobra in the air with all the streamers but it was impressive. His SSC Cobras cover...

Re: Texoma SSC

Open B would have been easier but I still enjoyed the day of SSC. We normally have a breeze but Saturday was just plain windy.

Thanks David for CD'ing and Kevin for grilling lunch.
