LSN 2014
I stopped by the LSN this afternoon to see a bunch of my old combat buddies and they had 10 pilots for 2948! Great showing for the event, and Round 1 Heat 1 had three twins in the air ... TOTALLY AWESOME sound! David Turner had his F7F Tigercat, Dane McGee flew his Me-410 and David Ebers had his Gek...

Re: Scale combat kits?
Team Oz, You won't have to wait two years because 2014 is an even year, so you have until March 15th to get the RCP in: Rules Review Schedule These procedures provide and follow a two-year schedule (cycle). The schedule will be strictly adhered to by all board members and administered by the Competi...

Re: P-70 Nightfighter
Nice work on the P-70. I flew a couple of P-70s, and they were great flying planes. Mine were in the 5 pound category too, and I used a fuel bladder in the bomb bay to run both engines. Big battery in the nose for balance, too.

Re: Biplanes in scale
When we were working on the rules, the biplanes were considered single engine and allowed to have up 48" wingspans on each wing. This does give them a theoretical wing loading advantage, but the extra drag, complexity, and fragility of the upper wing mounting would be enough to discourage most ...

Re: ME-410 Hornet Build
Great looking plane, and making weight will make it a great performing combat plane. My third version of the Me-110 came in an ounce light, and I had to add weight to bring it into spec. It flew great until Cash killed it at LSN several years ago I may need to rethink the design of the de Havilland ...

Re: Restored/Flying IL-2 Sturmovik
Thanks for the translation Serg! I volunteer at an air museum, and I know what a labor of love, blood, sweat and tears go into a restoration like that.

My brother sent me this link. Maybe somebody can interpret the Russian for us so that we know the salient facts about the restoration.

Richardson Fall Combat 9/17
After a brutal summer we finally got some rain Friday and a 15 degree drop in temperature that made Saturday a pleasant day for flying. The clouds of the morning gave way to hazy sunshine, and we put together 10 rounds of SSC. The original plan also called for 2948, but some vehicular issues foiled ...

Richardson TX - September 17th
It is time to crawl out of your air conditioned bunker and terrorize the skies of north Texas once more. This summer has been brutal ... 67 days over 100F ... so it is time to take out your pent up aggression on your best buddies at the Richardson RC Club near Lucas TX. I am looking for a few more w...

Here are the scores: 2948 - two rounds flown, not enough spare airplanes, Bruce had a great P-38 that flew fine, hope to see more of them next time.
