Re: Corvo Sloper

Looks very nice. Might need an area for ballast as 4 oz. wing loading is a little light for slope combat. We had 20-25 flying for the Super 77th slope combat meet June 28 & 29. Biggest turnout in a few years. For anyone who hasn't tried slope combat, it is a special kind of challenge. You not on...

electric combat Hogs

Saw some ads in Model aviation about an electric combat plane E-Hogs
at Electric-Combat.com

How much interest is building for these?

I was oging to build up an E-Gnat but if there is a new class that might catch on in popularity I've be up for that. ???

Re: We Need Help Promoting Combat

Hey Randy, good seeing your post. Glad you didn't get mud-slid out of Manitou. I've been talkin to Rhino Scharnell and Chris. They are aiming at getting a combat event sanctioned in late september. Of course Tom wants to fly Open B but they have a lot of interest at Mile-Hi in Gnats. I put one toget...

Re: We Need Help Promoting Combat

Think we have a few people in CO trying to get newbies started with Gnats. Really a great airframe and performance to get people started with. Fun plane. Inexpensive and pretty durable.

Re: .......Houston, We have Gnats!

Gnat #1. Up and flying. 2# 8oz (how is that on weight?) Hmmm, been a while. Makes me miss flying the SSC Avenger that I pulled the engine out of, but I can see how these things can be a hoot to fly combat with, especially for attracting new participants. Flies OK and a little slower, but while they ...

Re: .......Houston, We have Gnats!

Got two Gnats just about built. Will have a flight report in a couple of weeks depending on weather. One with .15, the other electric. Should be interesting to compare.

Re: .......Houston, We have Gnats!

Is the fuse material (the U channel or phencepost) 24" long, or is the total length from prop nut to the end of the tail 24" long ???

Thanks for the CG info. Sounds like just under 4.5" back will be fine for me, but I'll start around 4" to keep it from being too twitchy. :)

Re: .......Houston, We have Gnats!

Any CG reccomendations? Any dimensions for the tail feathers? I've prototyped plenty of planes, but would rather use the knowledge of experience rather than re-learning what works best. Might even build a couple extras to encourage others to fly them too. Also, what size aluminum U channel do you us...

Re: .......Houston, We have Gnats!

Are there some gnat plans such as thickness and size of plywood spacers. How far back the lower leading edge goes back and where the CG should be for the wing.

Also has anyone tried them with electric motors yet?

Re: We Need Help Promoting Combat

I open to hear any suggestions. Life has gotten in the way a bit but we are also short on combat pilots here in CO now.
Not sure we can get much stirred up but keep me posted if anything starts to catch on that might work at altitude.

Re: Club combat SPAD construction Falcon

Wow, coming full circle. Started combat with spads, nice to see a bit of a revival or at least interest. Put a little glue or 1/8 rod behind the LE and spads can take a fair amount of punishment. Still working on building up a few more e-SSC birds, but the small open e planes are a riot to fly and s...

I've got 2 or 3 if you're interested. They run well at high altitude and have the usual pipes etc.

Re: Muncie NATS attendance

Well guess perhaps I take a turn at stirring the pot a bit. First, while all comments are welcome I think that means all comments related to RC combat. The "go packers" comment is clearly out of scope and not worthy of this forum. Of course the economy and gas money has an impact but...

Thanks for the link to the plans.
Any plans for scale type planes?

RH, I'll let you know if I'm heading your way and we could at least get some elec combat in.
