ME 410 headed to Dixie Nats

If it flew combat between 1935 and 1955, here's the place to talk about it!
Also a great place to talk about Competition!

Lee,
It looks great. How are the motor plates attached to the wing? I have been dragging my feet on building/re-building scale ships for Dixie. This has given me just the shot in the arm I need to get motivated and building. I am really looking forward to seeing it fly.

Lou, you should know about the motor mounts. It`s just like the Cobra/Falcon motor mount. The spar is 3/16 bass, beefed up with 1/8 ply on both sides out past the motor mounts. Very simple to build. I used a set of Roy`s cores, just cut down a little.

Lee,
I guessed as much. I really like the way the plane looks and I know the wing flys great so it should be a killer combination.

Lee,

Please let me know when you are going to test fly that bad boy. I want to see it scream around the sky!

Thanks Scott. If it survives Dixie, it`ll be in Muncie. Maybe with a second one.

Here is my new 2610 P51. Vacuum formed fuse, coroplast tail group, white foam wing with epoxy glass spars. A Webre .25 with moose can for power, two mini servos on ailerons, and two standard servos in the fuse for elevator and throttle. Weight was 2lb 14oz. Flies great and is very fast.

Wayne,
That looks great. What is the wing covered with? Is it painted?

The wing on this one is covered with one piece of white vinyl with pressure sensitive adhesive on the back, much like monocoat trim sheets. The whole plane is painted with silver and black rustoleum which I found out is not fuel proof. I went back and sprayed a coat of automotive clear over the whole thing to fuel proof it. Larry has built one and covered the wing in rip stop nylon using 3M 77 glue and then painting. The wings seem really easy to cover being so small, unlike the Open B wings. The whole plane can be built in just a few hours.
