Warbirds prototype? (referendum)

If it flew combat between 1935 and 1955, here's the place to talk about it!
Also a great place to talk about Competition!

Scale 2610 or 2548 He219 Uhu?

I am not so sure if many pilots will be interested in Polikarpov I-15.

What can you tell about B-37? (Kirk flying it)

Serg, I have given this some thought befor answering. Here is my humble input.

On an emotional level the most popular fighter planes of WWII seem to be the:
1. P-51 Mustang
2. P-40 War Hawk
3. P-47 Thunderbolt
4. FW-190
5. P-38 Lightning

The inherently most competitive planes in 2610 seem to be the:
1. Fulmars
2. AD-1 Sky Raider
3. Ki-64
4. Nakijima B5N Kate
5. TA-152

Under present rules and rule proposals a 2610 legal P-47 Thunderbolt can also fly in 2548 without modification. Considering your ultra-light building techniques, with a wing change it could also be competitive in SSC. I don't really care for the P-47 personally, but a lot of people do.

If you are willing to go to the extremes of pannel lines and other scale details in the mold, and include instructions on installing wing hold down bolts and landing gear you could also market it to sport and scale fliers. An SSC wing option for the basic fuse could be marketed as a "Warbird Trainer" for those new to scale and fear the higher wing loadings of many scale warbirds.

Thanks for detailed opinion! It’s very useful.
How many combat people do you think interested in 2610 P-47?

To be ready for 2005 season KITs and ARF should came at least in early April. (Plus we need at least couple month in advance to build test exemplar before making mold. So project should be started not later November 30, 2004.

Lets more pilot tell his favorite prototype. Just give us clue.

I just emailed you about someone that is interested in P-40. Mainly interested in fiberglass fuselages.

On a purely emotional level may favorites are the P-40 Warhawk and the P-38 Lightning. Both of those would make great 2548 models, but because of the small wing/high loadings on the P-40 and the inherent complexity of a twin on the P-38, neither would attract me for 2610.
