Russian Style Wing Help

Post by o1moregil »

Hello Everyone!
I found plans for a flying wing from the rccombat.ru that looks like is very simple to make out of foam, I all ready have converted the airfoil to a .dat file and is ready to load on foamworks , I was gonna ask the guy who owns the disign for the mesurements of this wing but my russian is not that good [:D], when I open the .dxf file it is 1350 inches from wing tip to wing tip, I have minimized it to 62 inches and it gives me a 16.5 @ the root. but I will like to keep it's size original, does anybody have an idea of the mesurements of the original disign?

heres a direct download from rccombat.ru

I belive the plane is called "Gubanov"

ps.
(the only word I Know in Russian is "Vodka")[:p][:p]

Gil, I can't get the file open but having seen Fredrick's Russian wings I would guess the wingspan is 1350 millimeters or 1.350 meters. That would translate to 53 inch wing span. Mike could give you better info but that's my best guess.

yeah, convert to millimeters, the software may ask to apply a conversion. Or just start over with a millimeter grid unit, then convert to inches..

Most of the Russian planes are around 48 to 50 inches and they use the metric system exclusively.

yup, I was letting Flexisign open the .dxf file automatically, and it was opening it in inches, not millimeters, original mesurements are wing tip to wing tip 47.25 inches, I wanna leave it at the original size and strap a 40 size engine just for fun

at 47 inches it wont do me no good for combat, as it is now with 64" wing's I have a hard time cutting streamers[B)], I was thinking of making it at 64" wing, but if I leave the same tip mesurement I think the roll rate is gonna be slow, to predictable for my enemy[}:)], for now I'll stick with the Makos for openb.

Sounds good Gil,
I was thinking about some OLD Gremlin kits that we picked up this summer? Putting my 3696 motor on it and see what it would do.
Wing span is about 48" ( white )foam and wood spars. PVC fuse and twin tails. Not as FLASHY as ( buttercups ) twin tailed birds...[;)]
