Combat get together

Post by redfred1 »

We recently had a small get together, our second, of some local combat enthusiasts. We are still working on what classes of planes we will be flying, but they are generally .15 and .25 sized.

We had fun and hopefully we will have a few more fliers out next month!

Hi Lou!

We are in the Raleigh, NC area. Two seperate clubs. The Flying Tigers of Jordan Lake and the Johnston County Airplane Club.

We finally got enough folks around with two clubs combining the 3 to 5 people each. Enough for some relaxed rules, bring what ya got, combat flying.

Later,
Fred

Fred, you should think about joining in the fun at the Hilltop Flyers SSC event on May 8th. Not much posted on our website http://www.hilltopflyers.com/index.php? ... &pc_topic= right now, but more info will be available about 2 weeks out.

Great looking planes. Hope ya'll had fun. That's why we do it!!

Thanks!
I'll post it on our club site. May be too far to go for most of us, but you never know.

There are several combat events in VA this year that should be within driving range of you guys if you care to come up.

I have a calendar of events in the Mid-Atlantic region at
http://www.MidAtlanticCombat.com

In August, there is the 2-day Mid-Atlantic Championships, and there are a couple others before that.

There is also a contest just a hair north of Richmond late in the season.

If you guys decide to host an organized event, be sure to let folks know, I might be able to drive down there. Looking at the map to your field, I'd say you are about 4-5hrs from my house, and maybe 3-4 from the VA field, which is certainly with in range for day-trip contest.

We have been continuing our series of intra-club get togethers. We meet once a month or so and have occasional impromptu get togethers as people are available.
This past weekend we had a camera crew from the local cable access public television channel come out to the field. They video taped one of the guys new turbine powered King Cat and we put on a combat demo. We had a large turnout of club members to watch the demo as well as had 6 fliers available for a few combat sorties. Everything went well with many cuts and no mid-aires during the taping and we will be on a future TV show on a Saturday morning show.
Hopefully this will bring some good PR for R/C in general and maybe attract some more combat fliers!
We have about 10 pilots on our list and get between 4 and 6 at any given get together.
Unfortunately for me I cut my finger on the first sortie and was unable to participate :( ...it's always something! But everyone had fun.
I'll try to post a link to the video when we get it...

Sounds like you are getting combat going in a big way. Congrats and hope the interest continues to grow.
