For those who are not on the "left coast", the Riverside/Corona/San Bernardino area is known as the Inland Empire. Corona used to be a hotbed for homebuilt and classic airplanes, hopefully it still is.

Congratulations, Danny, for helping expand combat to another venue!

This event may include a tour of the Planes of Fame museum after the scores are tallied.
Chino is right around the corner from Corona and Planes of Fame is a must for all of us.

If we can wrap it up by 2:00pm, we can make it to the museum for a nice tour.

Thanks Ed. Interest in the area has been building and I'm glad that my home club has stepped up to be the first to hold an event.

The event name is a play on words a bit. "Battle for the Empire", the Inland Empire that is!

We are fortuate to have nearly a dozen clubs located in the Inland Empire area and we're reaching out to each of them to help expand combat.

I lived in SoCal for about 10 years, and used to live across the street from Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. It was an old USMC training field, and RC was flown off one of the runways, and wind sailers (sailboats on wheels) used to use the crosswind runway. Unfortunately, it is now a golf course[:(] Talked to some buddies that were flying at El Toro, but you need a pass (at least a couple of years ago you did) to get on the facility.

If you get out to SoCal, visiting Chino is a "must" to see Planes of Fame, especially if you can go to their airshow. They used to fly their real Zero ... not a converted T-6. Very cool.

Have a great time during the holidays!

Ok, I'm in. After watching some of Dannys videos I'll have to Armor some of the mig wings like I used to. Man Pearl took a small bite out of the fleet. Looked worse than it was. Sure looked cool in the videos though. Thanks Danny.

Starting to shape up. Currently 10 signed up so far. Not a bad start for a first time event at the Corona R/C Field. And I'm expecting the spectator turnout will be pretty big with the bump from the AMA show too. :D

Yep, the timing of the AMA Expo sure didn't hurt. I know of two more pilots from the club that have not signed up yet.

Looking good!
