Been a long time since ive flown combat. Looking forward to this event. Spent the day blowing the dust off the birds and getting my stuff charged and ready. I think i remember how to fly.

I've been flying at least 5 days a week online from 9-10 EST. Real flight 7.5. Not perfect, but keeps the reflexes working.

When you are 70 you need to keep your fingers & thumb moving or they stop working.

15th year for the Lone star Nats!!! 15 years ago I was flying 1.75# Raptors with Magnum 28s, stock muffler and 8x6 APC prop. JDB Bearcats and Ki 100s for 2610 scale. I didn't make it to the first LSN in Paris. For the second, I built 6 Chokers and 2 Bat tricks for me, my flying buddy Jason and my son.

Glad to see you back in action Bruce. Those David magnets you use have a half life of 500 years, please remove them. I hope that Mexican restaurant's food is good. Until them I'm still a firm believer that you can't get good Mexican food or BBQ north of Dallas.

Bob, you need to grab a few of your Yankee friends and have them join us.

Im really looking forward to it. The David magnets are all in the planes I'm loaning my buddy Mark. We went flying this morning and now each have 2 ssc,and 2 lim b planes ready. I kinda remembered how to fly even. Gotta get some scale stuff put back together now and I'm all set. Is it time yet, is it time yet?

I should have 4 new P-40's ready before next week. I was down to one damaged one at the end of the season. I need to rebuild my SSC bodies and am OK on wings. I have a few B bodies but need some more wings. Started shooting clays last Saturday. Will probably continue with that on weekends when I don't have a meet.

With not being able to find a place to buy magnum engines anymore, i had the fedex guy drop off a box of electrons yesterday. Getting about 19k with a 4s lipo on the ssc setup. Tried the B setup and its getting getting almost 17k with the 10x4  Got a little building and test flying to finish this weekend, then the fleet is ready. Some electric, some glow.

Os la.15's work great on purple avengers!!
The electrics are flying nice though. Im using the turnigy 3542 1450kv motor and a cheap 20c 4s 2650 and/or 3000 mah ipo. 8x3 prop and a 4s wide open gets a little over 19,000 rpm. Same motor and a 10x4 prop gets a lot more(17,000 +) than the14,500 we are allowed. I use one battery for ssc, and 2 in parallel for B. Prices are much better than a few years ago, and battery technology has advanced. This setup im using seems to work good. Its at the upper end of the ratings of the motor but it is just a little warm after landing with the 10x4. Using a 65a esc. Same airframe for ssc/lim B/ open B with just a prop and battery configuration change. Ssc uses about 25 amps and B uses right at 50 amps. $18 motor, $18 battery, $35 esc so price is comparable to nitro.
It also sets up an electrical magnetic repulsuon field that i have tuned specifically to your frequency David.
Covering 5 new wings tomorrow. Woohoo!!

Road closure.

Post by davidturner »

Road closure.

Hazelwood off of Hwy 82 will be closed the next 2 months. Use Gibbins road off 82 as an alternative. Recommend you look it up on a map because it winds around and you have to take a Wierd right hand turn to get to the field.
