Lou Melancon had heart surgery

Post by Which_way_is_up »

For all of you who know Lou Melancon and all the work he has done for the RCCA.

Lou had heart surgery last week and is now home recuperating. As far as I know he is doing well, for now I have little additional information.

Hi Guys,
Thank for all the calls, and emails. Having open heart surgery gives you a whole new perspective on life, the importance of family and being around to see the grandkids grow up.

The surgery and recovery were virtually pain free. The hardest part was being weak for about 6 weeks after surgery. I am now doing cardio exercises three mornings a week and went back to work full time in June.

Have fun at the Nats, wish I were going.

Lou,

Great to see you post up a reply. A long recovery and rehab is a bear to deal with, but much better than the alternative.

Happy to say that if you keep at rehab it is amazing how well the body can heal so just keep on top of the workouts and get back to 100, maybe even 110% soon.

Lou, I hope you can make it to a NATS in the future. This year's event went well and finished early. We were constantly trying to beat the weather and started the first round near 8am each day. Rehab and re-arm.
