Tundra Terror XII

Post by midair02 »

Well the Tundra Terror XII is in the books. The weather was what to be expected in October up in Green Bay. Saturday, the wind was howling at a brisk 20 mph pace directly in our face. This kept the action in tight and in a few cases too tight. We had 11 pilots for SSC and the majority decided to fly all up. After 6 rounds of in your face SSC, the scores are:

1. William Drumm 2704
2. Andy Runte 2560
3. Bill Geipel 1876
4. Doug Goldman 1604
5. Mike LaPacz 1420
6. Bob Loescher 1020
7. Heath Bartel 828
8. Stewart Holdsworth 680
9. Mark Meyrose 292
10. Terry Van Laanen 40
11. Leon Olszewski -800

After lunch, we broke out the Scale 2948 ships. They handled the wind much better than SSC and launches were a breeze with the wind in our face. We ended up getting 5 pilots to start. Bob loaned Mark a plane to get more targets in the air and Doug put together a plane of his own for this meet. Unfortunately, after only flying 3 rounds, we were left with only 2 pilots left with planes. We flew the 4th round mano a mano and called it quits for the day. After the 4 rounds of 2948, the standings are:

1. William Drumm 1060
2. Mike LaPacz 480
3. Doug Goldman 400
4. Bob Loescher 304
5. Mark Meyrose 20

Sunday was a better day for flying, with the wind being a little more cooperative. We started off with GNAT. We had 10 pilots and flew all up again. The action was still in your face and a close battle to the end. Only 108 points separated the top 3 spots when all was said and done. After 6 well fought rounds of GNAT, the standings are:

1. Bill Geipel 1812
2. Doug Goldman 1760
3. Andy Runte 1704
4. Mike LaPacz 1240
5. Mark Meyrose 1160
6. Stewart Holdsworth 800
7. Heath Bartel 660
8. William Drumm 320
9. Leon Olszewski 300
10. Bob Loescher -720

After lunch on Sunday, we got out the Limited B ships and battled once more. The action was intense and Dr. Kamakaze put on a clinic for us to watch. He was on fire. His lowest score was a measly 340 after posting two 5 cut rounds, two 6 cut rounds and an 8 cut round. After 6 rounds of Limited B, the standings are:

1. Andy Runte 3640
2. William Drumm 2420
3. Doug Goldman 1508
4. Mark Meyrose 1340
5. Heath Bartel 1060
6. Mike LaPacz 780
7. Bob Loescher 620
8. Leon Olszewski 72

Many thanks for a great event William. Looking forward to the next one. Interestingly, the next will be Tundra Terror XIII for any of you superstitious chaps out there. :D
