The Tundra Terror XIV is in the books. We had to deal with a stiff breeze on Saturday, which led to some line violations. Luckily, no one was hurt. We got SSC finished and broke for lunch. Just as we were about to get Limited B started, the rain decided to join us. After a couple hour break, we managed to get all rounds of Limited B in and were off for supper by 6. Sunday started off gloomy, but turned out to be a beautiful day and we got GNAT and 2948 in with no problems. After all was said and done, here are the scores:

Re: Tundra Terror XIV
Thanks to William and the Green Bay Model Airplane club for hosting another great combat meet! A weekend full of good flying, good food, and good friends. It was fun to see some of the new Gnat ideas that Heath & William had. I hope to experiment with some different wing designs during the off-season too, my first attempt needed to be reinforced at the root more I think. I tried flying it doing some club combat with Bill Geipel & Bryan Lorentzen but the wing would "V" in too much on a loop and then snap in. Otherwise it flew straight & level ok. The wing has a 10 inch root chord and an 8 inch tip chord with a 1 inch sweep from the LE and TE. I put the CG at 3". I just used 2 scrap pieces of 1/8 inch fibergass rod about 6 inches long to reinforce the middle with some bidi tape but it wasn't enough. Since the LE isn't straight the coroplast wrapped around the LE isn't one solid piece like on the stock Gnat wing. I also tried the tailfeathers from my other combat planes to cut down on different rudders/stabilizers I'd have to make. When I hit on a combination/reinforcement idea that works good, I'll post more.

Re: Tundra Terror XIV
Thanks so much to William and group for a well run event and great hospitality! The wind on Saturday made launching tough for me. I managed to chew up a bunch of equipment due to the wind and multiple mid-airs. But I've already started rebuilding rather than waiting until a week before the next event. Maybe I can spend this off season with a full combat fleet,
