2013 NATS planning meeting Sept. 15, 2012

Post by boiler »

I have to miss the Battle for Blue Ridge to be at this meeting. If anyone wants me to change anything from this year, let me know. There is a limit to what I can get done but let's hear your ideas.

Bob,
Thank you for representing us at the meeting. Please help us keep the use of 72 mhz at the NATS.

I will do my best Andy. I think we can hold the line.

I will order daytime temps in the 70's, 5 mph winds in our face, clear blue skies and night time temps in the 60"s. How does that sound Chris? I had the same order for this year. :D

Does anyone other than combat even use 72MHz any more? If we are the only ones I don't see it as an issue for AMA.
That being said.... Andy, 2.4GHz stuff is now so cheap it is no longer the big expensive deal it was to re-equip a combat fleet.
I bought a couple of used Spektrum DX7s and have been using the $6 Hobbyking Orange receivers. NO issues, last years NATS (when I used them in all but Scale) and this year when I was 100% 2.4. I am also using them in some mid-size sport planes. Zero problems so far.
Bob saw me crash during a practice flight at Muncie in July, turned out to be a failed battery, the Rx is fine.
I will fly 2.4 at Goldman's over Labor Day. You gonna make it?

Keith,
Bailey and I will be there labor day weekend to have fun with you guys and get some R&R in. Whether or not I fly depends on if I can piece together a few planes that fly, that's why I'm waiting to sign up. It's been a busy summer!

I agree 100% Keith. I already had 2.4 Tx for my slope and electric planes, and for $8 for an Orange Rx, decided to ditch my Hitec Optic 6 and gave Bryan all my 72Mhz combat plane receivers. I didn't want to get my nice DX8 all slimy, so I bought a like-new DX6i for $100 and use it only for my combat planes. It has 10 model memories, which is all I need, but from what I saw at the Nats, a DX7 (or like you, two) with 20 model memories may be needed for more dedicated combat pilots.

Yes, please.

I hope to make the Muncie Nats some day, but 2.4 would be a deal killer for me. I have dozens and dozens of 72 RX's and I don't intend to change.
