Wiring adapter for lipos

Post by 58combat »

I know this might seem like a simple question but can someone share their method for making a wiring harness to connect two 3S lipos together on a e-falcon using dean connectors?

Here is how I wire my SSC plane.
I use 2 3S 2200mAh batteries.
I use a BEC suitable for 3S (usually).
The BEC is connected to the First (lower) Battery only.
The lower pack will deplete more power but at an insignificant amount compared to the amount the ESC pulls as a whole.
I'd estimate a flight might pull only about 100mAh more from the lower pack.

This is how I've been running for the past 12 rounds of SSC.

This also allows me to plug in ONLY the lower pack and test my electronics w/o ARMing the ESC.
You should plug in the lower pack first, let your Rx sync, then plug in the upper pack.
If you plug in the upper pack, it can fool the ESC to thinking you have a 3S pack and not get your Lipo low cut off working, so make sure you plug in the lower pack first (easily identified by the 4 wires comming off of it instead of 2).

I had a stash of small 3S BECs I used that were rated for 4S or lower, so that was another reason I did it that way. Lately, I've been using the bigger and cheaper $5 UBECs that Hobby King has that work at 6S anyway.

good luck. :)

Do you mean in order to hook them up in series or parallel?

These aren`t dean`s, but it should help. This hooks them up in series.

Thanks David. I was going to tell you I could not open it. That was true at work but when I got home it opened fine there.
