Electric Classes

Post by midair02 »

Here is what I am proposing for electric only classes:

RCCA Electric Rules 7-21-2017

1. Contest: With the exception of the following restrictions, all RCCA Open class rules and scoring will be used. Electric combat rounds will be 5 minutes in duration.

2. Electric Combat will be broken down into these classes:

Class____ Watt Hours________ CEL Min. Distance From Spectator
E-1000___ 11.1V x 1000 mAh__ 80 Feet
E-2650___ 14.8V x 2650 mAh__ 100 Feet
E-5K_____ 14.8V x 5300 mAh__ 150 Feet

3. Battery:
A. Pilots can use different cell count, capacity and chemistry as long as the Volts x mAh is not greater than the class base.
B. Battery may NOT be switched out during the round.
C. Battery must be secured with a safety strap around the battery or have a hatch that is screwed or bolted.

4. All motors must have some sort of rounded spinner or safety cover on the propeller shaft, such as an "acorn nut" or AMA safety nut. No bare threads are allowed. Prop saver devices are allowed.

5. Sticky fluids/sprays (i.e. Tanglefoot/honey) and sandpaper/tread tape are NOT allowed. Double sided tape will be allowed.
