After about an hour's work, she is back to full operational status and looks as good as new after touching up the paint. I will have her out at Sherman for their Electric Fun fly on Saturday May 1. This weekend was bad on Hornets ... this David Platt plane went in at SEFF, fortunately nobody got hurt.

Ed, I have some A17As/Nomads I'll be flying in 2548 this year.
The two 2548 black Spits are wingless - they got too torn up at NATS a couple of years ago. Still have the fuses though! Unfortunately they proved to be rather slow so I have no plans to rebuild them.

Lessons learnt

1. The diameter of the wires make a big difference
2. Never shirk on quality equipment

I have come to the conclusion that battery cables are like fuel hoses: bigger may be better. Similarly, better quality connectors make a difference.

I replaced the no-name 3.5 mm motor/esc connectors with 4mm gold e-Flite connectors, and got a 600-700 rpm increase in each motor. I have multiple 4S5000 batteries, some with 12ga and some with 8ga cables; the 8ga increases the rpm by over 1000 rpm compared to the other batteries.

The extra "oomph" makes the Hornet a very exciting and competitive plane compared to the prior setup. :D :D
