3696 Current Motors and Battery Recomendations

Post by tiger_musky »

I've been away for a while but am back to building again and need some recommendations on battery and motor sizes. What is the current bang for your buck motor battery combination for 3696 planes?

Nate, I would recomend the Turnigy SK 3530-1100 motor about $20 and Zippy Flight Max 3s 2200 20c lipos on sale now for $7 each. Yep, that`s right $6.99 per battery.

Then, if you want to fly SSC, use the same motor with two of the batteries as a 6s 2200, run by a good 40a or higher esc. You can get a motor a pair of batteries and an esc for about the price of a new IC motor.

That is great advice Lee. If I fly SSC, I'd like to go all E so I don't have play with fuel.

Final Question on this, Is the motor mount between the BM2908 1100KV(20 mm) the Turnigy SK 3530-1100 compatible? More specifically, Is the hole distance the same for the motor mounts where you would attach it to the firewall? I have 2 spitfires and 2 sea furys with firewalls that were built to accommodate a BM2908 and am hoping the firewall mounting hole distances are the same.

I`m not sure about the X mount hole spacing. I know they are close, but not sure if they are exact. If I can find an old mount from a 2908 I`l check it for you.
