Brief summary of proposed change: To extend the time period from which approved aircraft are selected to include a reasonable post WW2 window.



Impacted Events:
o 2105 Scale o 2610 Scale

Proposed change:
In section A.3 Selection Criteria; change “in active combat squadron service between 9/1939 and 8/1945â€

I could live with the added years but still think an approved list needs to be present so oddballs with an advantage don't creep in.

Could allow planes from the extra years to be submitted for addition to the approved list.

I don't think this is a big deal, but I'd rather see the years kept limited for now. There's something to be said for keeping it to aircraft that saw combat during WW2.

The main reason that Chris submitted this proposal is because he likes the F-82 Twin Mustang. The F-82 was designed to act as a long-range bomer escort for the expected long effort to invade Japan. Since the proposal only changes the years involved, this would open up the list to a few more planes. I know that Ed and Cash want to keep the years as is, but I think that this proposal deserves to go before the members for discussion and the board for a vote.

I'm still not totally sold on this one. Yes, planes like the P-82 and the Bearcat aren't going to upset anything, but there needs to be a line somewhere. Anyway, I really don't think this rule will have a huge impact on the event as a whole, so I'll go along with it.
