needle valve

Post by Bruce B »

is a needle valve a universal thing between similar displacement engines?i know some are harder to get set right than others, but i dont know of any other differences.
what i really need to know is will this work on a .25fx? seems like a pretty good deal has anyone used it? does it leak?

Every single one of my planes uses them (except for my SSCs with the Magnum 15XLS)

Here's the replacement needle assembly I use. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... LXCR44&P=7 Rigged up remote with the threaded end pointing at the carb, the needle facing aft and zip tied to the fuse.

This is a newer model of the one that I found and have been using since last year.

The needle valve Evan showed isw the one I use too. It has very fine threads and is very user friendly. It usually take 2 or 3 clicks to make a differance as oppossed to one click being to rich and a click the other way being too lean. It even works well on bladder pressure systems. On the bladder one click makes a differance but it is managable. A regular needle valve is tougher to use on a bladder system. The Russians had some that they made by hand with really fine threads. On the real high power engines it is a must to have real fine ocntrol of the needle to get consistant runs on pressure.
