To mount that needle pictured, a piece of plastic drywall corner bead works great. The vibration from the engine tends to stress the metal that I have used.

Good note and observation about the metal mounting option. I have not observed that yet, but mine rarely seem to last long enough for me to tell, getting tangled up with ribbons and such... :lol:
