Off topic flying wing question

Post by NeilD »

OK I know not combat related but I know some of you guys can help. I have bought a SpeedWing 400 M II ( http://www.speedwing.net/product_info.p ... cts_id=298 ), 4 Zippy 1800 Mah 2S1P 20C Lipo packs ( http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... poly_Pack_ ), a 40 amp brushless ESC, a Turnigy 2700 KV brushless inrunner motor ( http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=4201 ), and I am running a few different props (5X5, 5.5X4.3, and 5.73X4.9). To say the least it is fast, and the run times are good (10-14 minutes at mixed throttle). How can I get it faster though? Mainly the prop or motor since I am please with the 9.99 (well now $11.88 batteries from Hobbycity)

I get about 160 watts with the two cell and on a three cell it jumps to over 300 watts. However it is a little too much power, on a dive it caused a high-speed stall I could not pull out of and a crash. The motor, Speed controller, and batteries are just a little warm after flights, even on the three cell, which is very nice. I am happy with the set-up, just looking for a little more speed out of the two cell configuration. Man it will sure eat up some sky though!!

I flew my SW 400 on a 2 cell 2200, and eventually a 3 cell 1800 and a Mega 16-15-3(3000kv). It was blistering with a 4.75x4.75 prop.

As long as you keep the amp draw under 30 with that motor, it should be happy. It should be able to handle swinging a 4.75x4.75 on 3 cells with no problem.

If you're wanting to go up in speed, but keep a 2 cell pack, then you'll want to move up in prop. APC has a 4.75x5.5 prop that'll boost your pitch speed. With 2 cells, you might even be able to go up to a 6x6. But keep an eye on the amperage.
