Terry Im using about 3 inches of high load 60 in the LE with a 1/8 f/g rod, and the rest is just plain "Snow Flake" foam (Perma "R" from Lowes), Im cutting them in 2 different runs, I got my cnc table set up with a drawing were the blanks will go, since it's a fully simetrical airfoil im only using one side, I slow the wire a bit when I cut the blue foam, It's fast and simple the way I got it set up. BTW my open b planes are coming at 2.5 lbs

2.5 lbs is a nice weight for a Mako..

The new design has shaved off some weight, but my Makos are always 3 lbs+... but they do pack a punch too..[:p]

With your cnc, how are you slowing the wire down when you get to the dow blue? I have older GM software... what are you using?

Im using Foamworks, you can slow it down/speed it up on the fly with this software. ( I keep the same temp on the wire at all times, the speed is what i adjust.

We Had some crapy wheather this weekend, and I got to work on this engine pod, the ply inside the foam is 4 inches wide by 6 inches deep, a holot of foam to grab on, I lighten it up with a cupple 3/4 inche holes, hope that 2 1/4-20 nylon bolts will hold it. I brushed on some polyurathan on the wood for protection.

Dane:

Those Falcon's look awesome. I'm skeered! Hey, are you securing the dowels to the motor stick with a clamp, or are you using the figure 8 trick with a separate rubber band? I'm trying to figure out a better way to secure the motor stick to the Cobra. The first way caused the flipper to get ripped up in a dirt nap, so I need a better method before the Cobra will be a viable alternative.

So far, all I've got done is some Battle Axes targets , but I'm going to try to work on some Cobra's if I get the time between now and then.

Gary, I am using 3 fg rods ( leftovers from spar rods) CA'ed together to make one........then I just CA the rod to the bottom of the engine stick.

Simple, light and strong. If they start breaking loose from the stick, then I'll use some nylon straps similar to landing gear straps to keep it in place.........no worries.
