Rcca Provisional SPAD class

Post by boiler »

It looks like the board is in favor of a SPAD class. The SPAD Gnat is made of a single piece of 4 mill coro and can be built in an hour if you have materials assembled for a build party. The rationale is we had many more pilots when I entered RC Combat but the majority of pilots were flying SPADS. A quick build for non-builders and near zero cost. The GNAT is the simplest of the SPADS and is made of the easiest to find free 4 mill coro. People in MN, and WI have been flying them for fun and club combat for years. We have several RCCA members flying SSC who started on the SPAD GNAT. It can cut it's own streamer and is fun to fly. The glide path leaves something to be desired but that is a minor concern.

I got two of 'em and 2 non-combat club members are building one each.
Other members have flown my second one and had a blast, but i can't quite get 'em to bite!

We had 5 pilots flying Gnats on Sunday at the Battle for Bean Town. On more had some issues with his and didn't fly. We had a build party the night before ad 3 Gnats were born.
