Tundra Terror VII

Post by midair02 »

The Tundra Terror VII is in the books. It was a wonderful day with temps in the mid 70's. The wind was blowing out of the North at 15-25 throughout the day. It kept the action real close. The first round of SSC had 2 pilot line violations. Once the pilots got used to the wind pushing us in, they kept it out for the rest of SSC. We had 10 pilots show up, but unfortunately, Tom had radio glitches during test flights and had to withdraw. That left us with 9 pilots and we flew all up. That resulted in several midairs and quickly thinned out the field up in the air. After 5 rounds of SSC the scores were:

1. William Drumm 1952
2. Bill Geipel 1568
3. Bryan Lorentzen 1420
4. Mike La Pacz 1400
5. Bob Loescher 1292
6. David Lorentzen 824
7. Mark Meyrose 408
8. Tim Peterson 20
9. Terry Van Laanen -196

After Lunch, we flew 5 rounds of GNAT. We had 7 pilots and again flew all up. The wind picked up in the afternoon and we were kept in close again. We only had 1 pilot line violation for the GNAT class. Scores were of course lower than SSC because of the NO sticky rule and the shorter wingspans, but surprisingly, not that much lower. At the end of 5 rounds, the scores were:

1. William Drumm 1616
2. Bob Loescher 1384
3. Bill Geipel 1100
4. Mark Meyrose 572
5. Mike La Pacz 560
6. David Lorentzen 452
7. Bryan Lorentzen -20

I had a great time, Will! Fun flying, beautiful weather, and good ol' Green Bay hospitality!

Please reserve all of the same for October. :)

Thanks for a great meet William and Green Bay club. The weather was great although a little windy. Food was fine as well. I will be better prepared in the battery and rx department next time.

Thanks William for another great meet. And for helping out our newest member Mark. He was so impressed that he signed up for the Nats when he got home.

Great work William. That's part of what hooked me on combat is the people that were always willing to jump in and help when you need it. Sounds like a good contest.

Hey Bruce --- I was looking forward to meeting you at the Midwest Slope Challenge and talk some Wisconsin vs. Texas combat smack. You even had a frequency reserved. But you were a no-show! :( I should have an article in the Oct MA so you can see what you missed!

Maybe next year!
