How long do your combat engines last? I was looking through all of my stuff today and I realized that I still have(in good working order)every combat engine I've ever owned. I have only one engine that is just a little weak and it is from my Gremlin combat days in 1994. I have never had to change a piston or liner on any of them.

I have never worn out a combat engine. In fact, in 20+ years of flying R/C I have only worn out two engines.
I have some that are damaged beyond repair, but they still serve their porpose for spare parts.

I have toasted several by ingesting glow plug elements. I have also ruined a few irvine sleeve/pistons with lean runs. Never wore one out though. I have also pushed a crankshaft out the back end once.

I had one Irvine 25 detonate several years back thanks to a small, low pitch prop and 35% nitro, man it was screaming nasty when I launched it, but other than that, all my engines seem to be in fairly pristine shape. All tucked away in plastic ziplocks dangit!

I've had engine fail, one broken crankshaft in the air, and I just had a nearly-new Webra break a conrod (!!). I have a couple of Mag .25's that aren't currently mounted in anything because they just don't produce the power of my other engines, but that's how they were when new. I haven't actually worn out an engine yet.
I still run my origional Magnum .15's in A and SSC, and I still have my origional Mag .28's.

I have 2 norvels that have Zero compression left in them. You can get 3 revolutions on a finger flick of the prop. A new piston/liner set is nearly the same price as the whole engine.
