E-KLASS

Post by C/F »

OK ,

Heres my idea for an E class that goes beyond what currently is offered.

Heres a group already started:

For me an IROC class has always been appealing, specing plane/motor and Battery pack is alot easier in electrics than the boondoggle arms race of SSC. I like a concealed prop of this design to minimize damage.

I also see the need to improve on scoring.

A 3' forestry tape streamer on each winglet. Last plane flying with original streamer(s) scores a point per plane in the heat. 5 up 5 points for the match. In case of tie with streamer(s) the last plane to touchdown wins the match. Simple, no judges needed.....

I bet those guys don't complain all that much about furballs or survivability.

video link did not work for me.
They able to pull streamers on that wing?
A blunt tipped electric wing class would be interesting if survivability was high.
I tried the SEMFF type planes at an airshow mid day show at our field. I built 6 planes that cost $50 each and sold some and let others fly the others. But only 3 survived the flight. 2 were repairable and 2 were not. We just launched and someone yelled start combat and we flew till there was basically 1 pilot left.
Fun but the weak foam I though was not very survivable. EPP foam wings reinforecd or blunt tipped sounds good to me.
I've almost myself decided to quit from all the rebuilding Time I spend cause I keep getting into the furball and getting mid-airs.

My local club used Unicorn wings and some Zaggi wings for full contact combat. It wasn't as much fun as streamer cut, especially when a battery pack was lost in the bean field. An enclosed prop design that is tougher than the Unicorn is the Stingray from Tuff flite models. It comes with a standard Himaxx ducted fan motor. A streamer could easily be attached.

Bring those planes in closer where I can see them.
