This is where we discuss pilot recognition. What do you do to recognize Sierra Hotel pilots? Tell us your ideas!

I received the following email via Doug Stahlke:

<i>...this is Dick Barland's son sending you an e-mail from
Dick's computer. Will you spread this e-mail to the flying club?

Dick died today (9-7-05) at 10:40 am from respiratory failure. He was
58 years old. His death was caused by the the damage the chemotherapy
did to his lungs and by massive infections that struck him in the past
36 hours. Our family was with him when he passed away peacefully.

We are planning on a funeral for Monday 9-12-05 at Christ Lutheran
Church in Blaine. We will use the Washburn-McGreavy funeral home on
Coon Rapids Blvd.

We thank everyone for their support and prayers over the last year. -

Dick was a treasured member of our North Central flying group. He began flying combat with Gnats with Doug Stahlke at the Grassfield flying club. He then began attending RCCA meets and was a gracious competitor and friend to all. Dick loved combat and helped with creating articles for the Wild Wings site and answered emails from all sorts of folks with questions about Gnats. The North Central District in particular, and combat in general, has lost a valued individual.

We shall miss you Dick.

Godspeed.
