NPS Points as of 8-24-2006

Post by Web-Pilot »

Hi All,

Out here in the west we are pretty quiet. We don't make a lot of noise or a post a lot on the forums or talk a lot of smack. We mostly let our flying do the talking for us.

With that in mind, I would like to point out a few facts about the NPS Open B and Open Overall standings as they are today. It will change, but as of today:

6 of the top 10 are from Colorado and Utah
8 out of the top 22 are from Colorado and Utah
7 of the top 13 are from Colorado
5 of the top 13 are Members of Mile Hi RC Club!
One more in the top ten is a member of a sister club, Airpark Elite, in Aurora CO.

Conclusion, Rocky Mountain and Colorado combat is going STRONG! It is as strong now as it has ever been. I don't know if 5 of any one club have ever been in the top 13 before, but I doubt it!

The flying here at altitude has come a long way in the past 4 years. Combat is different than it was then too, and we have all progressed adn grown with our flying and it is terrific that we can produce pilots that can compete with the best in the nation. It is the thin air that helps us develop better flying skills.

Way to go Guys!

CONGRATULATIONS and keep up the great flying!
#3 Tom Neff - Airpark Elite
#4 Randy Hodges - Mile Hi RC
#5 Scott Stringham - Utah
#8 John Jaugilas - Mile Hi RC
#9 Frank (Quad) Scharnell IV - Mile Hi RC (16 years old)
#10 Rick (Rhyno) Scharnell - Mile Hi RC (13 years old!)
#13 Frank Scharnell III - Mile Hi RC
#22 Alan Thovson - Airpark Elite

I now know why Fredricks and Gilkey are hard to beat. They always fly at a higher altitude than most of us short guys.[:D]
