2007 NATS

Post by boiler »

Just got back from the planning committee meeting with Rick Fraley. The NATS will be July 13-16.

The AMA is going to a universal type entry form that better explains how much they get and how much the SIG gets.

The AMA gets $45 for rule book event open contestants. You can fly one or both events.

RCCA gets $25 for the first event or $45 if you fly both events.

The AMA gets $10 if you fly any non rule book events and don't fly rule book events. If you fly a rule book event, there is no extra charge for the non rule book event.

The RCCA gets $10 for each non rule book event flown by a contestant.

The AMA will collect all the money and write a check to the RCCA.

Last year the AMA had a "$10 late fee" if you registered after June 1st. Registration forms should be available in December.

I hope this takes, it is the second effort to enter the information.

Since that worked, I will now give the allowed frequencies which I had in the first post that didn't take. I believe they are the same as last year.

11,12,14,15,17,18,20,21,23,24,26,27,29,30,32,33,35,36,38,39,41,42,44,45,47,48,50,51,53,54,56,57,59,60,01,02,04,05,07,08,53.2,53.3,53.5,53.6,53.8

Hope this completes the information that you need to get ready for the best NATS yet.

I think limited b and 2548 should be switched on the schedule. Reason being is that there have been twice as many rounds and people flying it. That may be the decidind factor if I go or not.

I agree with Darrin. I suppose we could wait ans see which gets more pilots. The less popular one should get the "if time permits" spot.

Couple of things, 1st the Pizza party will be Sat. night or the end of day 3. 2nd, as of now nothing on a schedule is set in stone, but will be at some point down the line. The main objective is to fly as much combat as the pilots want to fly, and the classes they want to fly. We will still do the rule book classes the 1st 2 days. One thing though--- you are asking for more rounds of Open-B. There isn't much difference between open b and limited b, so you are talking about 18 -20 - rounds of one or another form of Open-B. ----------rick

Hey Bob ....... when do you think they will finalize the schedule? I have to put in for my vacation for next year, by the end of this year. I am looking towards flying in SSC and Limited B.

Thanks,

I think you can count on SSC for the second two days. Any limited B would be likely in the second two days as well. The first two days are for the AMA rule book events which are open B and 2610 scale. We would want all open B to be over before we flew limited B because some guys use the same equipment with a prop and muffler change. Some have to add weight for limited as well.

I dunno, looks about the same to me. Drive out Thursday, and drive back Tuesday. That's still 4 vacation days, all in one week or split over two. I guess if you drive back monday after flying, you might save a vacation day, but Nats never ends that early, so it's not worth it for me.

4 days is better than 5 days at the rate I eat them up with kiddies doctors visits, moving, etc. By the time July rolls around, I'll have built up enough time.

At least it is not in the middle of the week like it normally has been.

Day 1 5 rounds of 2610 followed by 5 rounds of open B
Day 2 5 rounds of open B followed by 5 rounds of 2610 (4 rounds of limited B if time permits)
Day 3 5 rounds of SSC followed by 5 rounds of 2548 (4 rounds of limited B if time permits)
Day 4 5 rounds of 2548 followed by 5 rounds of SSC

Are these set yet? It would be nice to put SSC and Limited B on the same 2 days. Just a thought, got to plan those vacation days.

Dave, I think Rick is flexible at this point. 2548 and Limited B are competing for time at the NATS. We are pretty much obligated to do rule book events even if the weather is lousy. Last year we did pretty well because the weather helped. SSC is the most popular event we have so I think we can be assured after the rule book events that SSC will happen. If we get in any 2548 or Limited B the weather has to help and how much of which will depend on participation in events before the NATS. That's my take on Rick's comments earlier. If no one signs up for 2610 and a few sign up for open B then we might be able to work in something else early. I know some would like the schedule in stone but it needs to be a little flexible this far out. Rick, do you care to add more since you're running this thing?
