Lee, I still have your Mustang. The Yak is built from balsa, blue foam and 2mm coro doublers, kinda like Cottontail on a smaller scale. The wings are old 2105 Mustang white foam cores cut down to the correct shape, then sheeted, taped and covered. I'm running an Electrifly 950Kv 35mm outrunner, a 25 amp esc, and a Dualsky 1700 mah 3s lipo. It's kinda weird, I'm pulling just a shade over 12 amps with an MA 9-6, and she's only taching about 8300-8400 static, but it doesn't seem to give up much, if any in the air. It climbs well, goes along at about an SSC like pace, and turns fairly tight (that might be due to the e203 airfoil, and the 24.5 oz weight) JP and I are thinking that since the hotter motors you and Ed are using are essentially "dialed back" to 9000 rpm static by using the ATV, and the motor in the Yak is not, then it's unloading quite a bit more in the air and at least approaching the 9000 limit. Anyhoo, she flies real sweet..I got more planes in my head, though...hehehehe....

BTW, I guess due to the different materials used in the building of this plane, you could call it "scrounge-built" as opposed to scratch-built...

Looks sweet. But if you are going to be a "Hacker" then maybe you should be running a Hacker.

OK, so I am a little late on this thread... I did get a couple of minutes on the sticks. This little bird flies quite nicely. Lots of aileron - the way Cash likes it, but still quite managable. The elevator got dialed down to about the right rate over the first couple of flights. It had WAY too much the first time up. Good thing Cash had a lower rate set up. I have flown a plane with WAY too much elevator and it ain't fun!.

Now I gotta build one for myself. I'm working on it. Should only take a few more months now... [:)]
