<br />One question that is probably stupid, but is the aileron area figured in with the wing area as well, or is the wing area figured by fixed wing surface area?

I did a rough calculation of the wing area and got 249 sq in. [:0]I thought I had better break it down into more parts and do a more detailed calculation. Got 240 sq in that time.[:)]

Talk about skirting thew rules, lol.

I use Compufoil for my templates and all, and if you enter the panel size it'll give you a good estimation of the wing area. Most of mine seem to be aound 240.

I used wing master to calculate everything that was uniform. I separated the curves on the wingtip and calculated that separately to get a more exact area. The first time I guesstimated a slightly wider tip chord to compensate for the rounded tips.

Based on my calculations, the P-39 will have very close to the maximun 250 sq in, and could be slightly over if you aren't careful.

Top wing area singles (in order largest first):
P-39 - 250
Sea Fury - 246
Bearcat - 245
Dauntless - 243
Corsair - 243
Polikarpov I-16 - 240
KI-43 Oscar - 239
LA-5/LA-7 - 238
LaGG-7 - 238
Ju-87 Stuka - 237
Hellcat - 235
P-47C/D Thunderbolt - 234
IL-2 - 233

I guess my ruler, calculator and 3 view drawing are the only tools needed. Turbocad is nice but I haven't figured it out yet.
