I have the most thoughtful daughter on the planet. Not only does she wake up at the crack of dawn to volunteer at our clubs combat events. She was so inspired by the action that she wrote a poem for me. Because it involved combat I thought I would share it, that others might enjoy it to. I you decide to copy it please give my daughter credit as the author.
Combat by Caitlin Buttery (for Daddy)
It is silent.
Hands gripping the controller.
"Combat Pilots you have one minute..."
"30 seconds..."
"15 seconds..."
"Start engines you have 90 seconds..."
The silence is broken by the sounds of the engine's roar.
Pilots around me throw their planes,
Catch them midfall
And let them soar.
Black trail following
Into the sky.
I throw mine
and follow the others.
"Start Combat!"
Loop de Loop!
Someones tail is draped over my wing.
Barrel roll!
Some else's joins it.
Two planes collide.
Someone grabs my streamer.
"Two minutes remain"
I grab my streamer back.
Someone does a face plant!
"One minute remains"
So close.
One last streamer
"snip"
"End Combat!"
This was written by a 7th Grader. Can you tell I am proud of her[:D]
