2548 Props

Post by Donduck73 »

At a recent contest I had alot of problems with the APC Props breaking. This would occur sometimes on a smooth landing where the prop just barely hits the ground. I know that the Master Airscrew 10x4 is approved but there are two listed on tower hobbies.

Master Airscrew 10x4 G/F G3 Nylon Propeller
Master Airscrew 10x4 S-2 G/F Nylon Gray Propeller

Is the scimitar approved for 2548 or is the other one. If they are both approved which would be better.

Thanks

The G3 is the one that I use. I think it is cheaper and stronger but am not sure. Maybe someone else knows more about it and wrote the rules at it's (2548) inception. Ed?

This same issue applies to Limited B. Since the rules just say MA 10x4, and don't specify if it's GF or scimitar, we've been allowing both for LimB (2548 is not active in our area so it hasn't been an issue). We haven't seen a perceptible advantage for either prop, some claim the scimitar is better, others that it's worse. So no definite opinion so far.

I use the G/F3 but I doubt if there is any perceptible difference between it and the scimitar version that we need to worry about.
