Hello Bob

we want to build up a contact with you in the US because we're planning next World Aircombat Scale Games for 2010 in Germany. We would like to invite pilots from your aircombat scene to this contest.

Although we're flying after ACES-rules which are different to yours, you have planes in some classes which are able to participate. Principal rules often aren't too different.
Main contest will be standard WWII planes, both combustion and electric engines, according ACES-rules. Beneath that, normally flown in the evening hours, we will fly some heats with WWI-biplanes. It's not as competitive as WWII since the planes are much more work to build, but nice to watch and participate. In Italy this year we've had 74 pilots in WWII and 26 in WWI.

First WASG was in 2000, also in Germany. Bob Wallace took part as the only American pilot. Since 2000 we held up this contest every second year, two times in Czech, Sweden and this year in Italy. We normally have about 80 pilots from 12-14 countries. The 2010 contest will be from 15th to 18th of Juli in Roding-Pösing, not too far from Munich in Bavaria/South-East-Germany. We are sponsered and assisted by the DMFV, the German rc-model-flyers association.

Tell me if you have any questions. It would be great to welcome American pilots here in Germany!

With best regards,
Timo Starkloff

Some additional informations:

Website of the modelers club
http://www.xn--mfg-roding-psing-xwb.de/

ACES aircombat rules (will be updated end of 2008 with small changes, mostly concerning modern electric motors/accumulators):
http://www.aircombat.de/regeln/Aces_Rul ... nglish.pdf

Most important points are:
- fighters from 1935-45
- scale 1/12
- +/-5% deviation in length/wing span, all other measures +/- 2cm
- engines 2,5 to 4cm³ or electro powered, depending on over or under 12m wing span of the original plane

- flight time 7 minutes
- 100 points for a cut
- 1 point for 3 seconds of flight time
- 50 points for intact streamer after the heat
- usually up to 5 heats and final of the best 7 pilots

Website is updated, most important news are:
- more detailed time table
- insurance: pilots from foreign countries are automatically insured with no additional cost
- frequencylist: all frequencies for rc-planes in Germany are listed, we would recommend to use 2,4 GHz since this is also allowed and makes organisation much easier

Information about accommodation will follow next.

Greetings, Timo

First informations about accommodation are online, in the near future we will send a mail to all NCs with more details about the hotel prices. The ones for the pilots are cheaper than on the hotel-websites, they're from 30-40Euro per pilot and night, including breakfast.

Camping on the model site is also possible, of course :-)

The DMFV has a new website, so we transfered information about WASG on the new page (old links work further).
Actually the rest is written in German only, I hope to translate it in english too.

Only two weeks left and still much things to do for preparation. Opening and start with first flights will be on 14th July. Many people arrive on the weekend before, just in time to watch the finals from world soccer games in South Africa.

Greetings, Timo
