all the newer engines are brass sleeves but the inside is plated. In Japan they use Nickel and China they still use chrome Loose EPA there

No plans, Don't know of any local Open B, it's all SSC and 2548 around here I think.
I used 9x4 to break in but did not measure RPMS at peak.

David and I are flying in 2948.
I did tach my XLS .25 with a mousse can and pipe, Can't rember
the numbers but I know they were in the upper 19,s (19,700 I think ) with 20% nitro and 20% castor
David said the photo of the XLS.25 is what he got ( will he got the engine ) and that makes sense to me ASP and Magnum same mold.

David 15,000 with 15% nitro and a 9 X 4 prop sounds low to me are you going to tach her some more
with the 9 X 4 and no Baffle in the muffler?

There's no 2948 in Ca. yet. The test engine on a pipe after it was well broken in hit 19,300 with a 9x4 mas on 15% fuel.
They will rise after breakin so time will tell.

Terry Yates "still4given" who got ahold of the test engine when Mike was done with it has a new 25 XLS and here is his report and results.

I got a chance to do some break-in on my new .25. The numbers on the muffler were about what I expected but it was a little down from the prototype with the combat can. Probably going to need some more time to loosen up the top end. I had already removed the baffle so I didn't get any numbers with the baffle in.

Here are the numbers after three tanks running slightly rich with complete cool down in between. MAS 9x4 for breakin

I ran the props I had on hand.

MAS 9x4 17.6K muffler 18.4K combat can
APC 9x4 15.6K muffler 16.2K combat can
MAS 9x5 14.6K muffler 15.1K combat can
MAS 9x6 13.8K muffler 14.3K combat can
APC 9x6 13.1K muffler 13.6K combat can
APC 10x4 12.5K muffler 12.9K combat can

What % nitro are you running and are you adding castor oil ?

My Mix,s were between 25% and 10% and I always add castor for Magnums and ASP it even picks up the OS LAs
My numbers are higher but then I ran my engine in on a 8 X 3 hiting close to 22,000 on pipe.
I got 21,118 with 8 X 3 and the muffler

15,000 with 9x4 was by running rich, it would go faster than that.

MAS 10x4 with stock muffer and baffle removed, 15% COOLPOWER was 14,300

I was running Omega 15%...It calls out a castor / synthetic blend but doesn't list the % kinda makes you wonder.

Didn't have any extra oil to add, just ran the fuel as is.

At the fall FSA event in 2548 I flew the Hobbyparts ASP .25 AII (Magnum 25XLS?) in 3 rounds. The best it would tach with the MAS 10x4 was 13,900.
I am taking some suggestions people gave me and will try it out this week or next before the Street Brawl on the 13th.

With my FX 25 on 30% heli fuel my best rpm has been 14300 running the mas 10x4. I run a standard muffler without the baffle. It does unload in the air but not on the ground.
