NEW Flight Box - Finally Finished!!!

Post by midair02 »

Here are some pics of my latest charging and flight box. My old one had the charger built into it. I thought this was a great idea at first. I realized that it would be nice to charge airplanes away from the stand, especially when test flying prior to the start of the meet. Also, it was heavy. Must have been all of those charging cords.

Nice! Is that a separate little box for your charging setup? Battery under the charger? What's the black edging you used to line the ends of the wood with? Nice bit of customization ( pyrography? ) on the side. Go RCCA! Where do you find all the time?!?!? See you in Virginia next month.

Yep. The charger has its own little box now and the charger sits up on top of the battery.
The black stuff is velcro and foam tape to keep the lids on and the majority of water out. They are on in the pictures. It won't be long before they get all scratched up.
The logo I cnc routed out after tracing it in CAD. That turned out better than I thought it would. I didn't know if the pilot would look good the way I had it.
I had it glued up months ago and finally got around to finishing it. I like the building, not the finishing.

Great job William. I'm really glad to see u spend quality time in the wood shop. It means less time you are spending on building planes, giving the rest of us a needed advantage. Have you ever thought about getting Into furniture building?

It didn't keep me from completing a dozen new wings (5 open B and 7 SSC).

Gonna be a good time for some new wings. These Texas boys are hungry for streamers. Weather is looking great for us. See you this weekend.
