.......Nope, not what you think
After tangling with Will Drumm at LSN one of my original Mustangs from 2005 needed some foam repair and a recover job, so while I was at it, i just whittled out another.
David Ebers has had good luck with Black Baron low temp film and that is what i really wanted to use for the recover job. However, the LHS dont carry it and time was getting away from me. I chose to go back to my roots and go the tape and paint route because I had it all on hand. Turned out good.....even lost an ounce in the process.
For my next project a DeHavilland Hornet, I will use Balck Baron.

Re: Twin Mustangs
The paint and tape has held up suprisingly well on my Mustangs over the last 7 years. I used Lusterkote fuel proof paint and had no problems with nitro eating at the finish as long as I cleaned the residue off after each flying session.
I did the scuff and clean procedure and paint held on fine......The tape finish added only about an ounce.
I was reading that full scale P-51's were built expecting a service life of only 50 hours of combat. I think we got that one beat

I wonder if the pilots were aware of that fact!
